Why can't I use the @ symbol in my DNS records?

On some DNS systems the @ symbol can be used instead of the actual domain name however the Freeparking DNS editor does not support the @ symbol.

So if you have been instructed to make DNS changes and to use the @ symbol instead of the domain name then use the domain name instead of @. For example if you have been instructed to add a record for @ pointing to 210.12.13.14, simply go to the 'A' records section and put your domain name in the left hand field of our editor ie. "example.com" (without quotes) and the destination IP on the right "210.12.13.14" (without quotes). That's it! Save and Finish.
