Adding/Removing Categories in OpenCart

OpenCart comes with default categories, installed for example purposes. These can easily be removed when logged into the dashboard.

Deleting Categories in OpenCart

Step 1. Select the Catalog icon on the left then Categories.

Select Categories


Step 2. To remove all the listed categories click the tick box next to Category Name.
Then click the Delete icon in the top right corner.
Individual categories can be selected for removal, by ticking the appropriate boxes then the Delete button

Adding Categories in OpenCart

Step 1. When logged into your OpenCart admin, click the Catalog icon then Categories.



Step 2. Click the + button in the top right corner.

Step 3. Fill in the fields for your new category on the General tab.

Category Name and Meta Tag Title must be filled in.


Step 4. Click the blue Save button in the top right corner.

Save new category

You have now created your first category. You can follow the same steps to add as many categories as you need.
